Those with the bat as their patronus are solitary creatures for most of their time, and are very comfortable with this. They are not the types to have conforming personalities and rarely care what others think of them. They tend to get along best with other bats, and when they do socialize it is usually within this group, because they are most comfortable with others like themselves, unlikely to judge. They are not incredibly emotional, but what they do feel is only brought up by their own mind, as what others think never enters the process. The most common house for a bat patronus is Ravenclaw. The most common signs are Capricorn and Sagittarius.

Yup. I’ve always figured I’d have a bat as my patronus and/or animagus form. I’m a Taurus, but that doesn’t really mean anything.

And I bet that if Snape had not known Lily, his patronus would have been a bat, just like I think he could have been sorted into Ravenclaw if sorting happened later in life and he’d had a longer time to meet and hang with nicer people than those he met in Slytherin.
